NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A barbershop employee shot a man who flashed a gun at workers after being turned away for a haircut early Tuesday, and Metro Nashville police say no charges have been filed against anyone involved.

Officers responded around 2:25 a.m. to a reported shooting at 300 Barbershop in the 5700 block of Nolensville Pike in South Nashville, according to WKRN.

Police say the man walked in after store hours and asked for a haircut. After employees turned him down, he pulled up his shirt and flashed a firearm at them, MNPD said. One employee drew his own gun and shot him.

Officers at the scene told WKRN that multiple shots were fired between the two. The man was hit in the arm and suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

According to police, the man dropped his gun after being shot and ran. He later turned up at a hospital, where detectives interviewed him. He first claimed he had no weapon during the encounter, then admitted he was armed.

More from USA Carry:

No charges have been brought against the man or the employee. MNPD says the District Attorney’s Office will evaluate the self-defense claim.

This is exactly the scenario lawful carriers train for and hope never comes. A worker faced a stranger who would not leave, then watched that stranger reach for a gun. He had seconds to decide. Because he was armed, he was able to answer a deadly threat instead of becoming a victim of one.
