BEAUMONT, TX – Beaumont Police say a fatal shooting earlier this month was the result of an aggravated robbery in which multiple suspects allegedly worked together to target and attack an individual who ultimately returned fire.
According to a February 24 update from the Beaumont Police Department, investigators determined through witness accounts and video surveillance that four suspects coordinated a plan to rob an individual.
Police identified the deceased as Jayson January, 17. Authorities said January, Brenden Earnest, also 17, and two juveniles allegedly attacked the intended victim during the robbery.
Investigators stated that during the incident, all four suspects assaulted the victim and fired shots at him. Police say the victim returned fire, striking January, who later died.
