CHARLESTON, SC — Two suspects were injured and arrested following a midday home invasion on South Enston Avenue in Downtown Charleston on October 26, 2025. The Charleston Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 12:00 p.m. and found one suspect still at the scene with a gunshot wound to the arm.

A second suspect, who had fled, was later located at a residence on Doscher Avenue suffering from a stab wound to the neck. Both suspects were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives identified the suspects as 26-year-old Keon Haynes and 21-year-old Christopher Connor, both from Charleston. The investigation revealed that the two forcibly entered the home in an apparent robbery attempt. During the confrontation, individuals inside the residence managed to disarm the intruders and injure both men in the process.

One of the residents reported being grazed by gunfire while struggling with one of the suspects during the incident. No other injuries were reported among the occupants of the home.

Christopher Connor now faces multiple charges, including assault and battery in the first degree, armed robbery, burglary in the first degree, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Keon Haynes has been charged with assault and battery in the first degree, armed robbery, and burglary in the first degree.

Authorities confirmed that the suspects and victims were known to each other. Haynes was under supervision by the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services at the time of the crime.

Both suspects have since been released from the hospital and are in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the on-duty Central Detective at 843-720-2422 or submit tips online at www.charleston-sc.gov/tips.

When confronted with a violent home invasion, the residents’ quick actions to disarm their attackers, while dangerous, potentially saved lives. This incident highlights the critical importance of maintaining situational awareness and having a response plan in place for home defense. If you’re legally able to, consider defensive firearms training and always prioritize calling law enforcement as soon as it is safe to do so.
