RALEIGH, NC — A Raleigh homeowner shot an intruder who violently forced his way into a home late Tuesday night, according to local police.

The incident occurred around midnight on Roseland Drive in Southeast Raleigh. Homeowner Tim Johnson said he, his wife, and their niece were preparing for bed when they heard loud banging on their front door. Moments later, the door was kicked in and an intruder entered the residence.

Johnson stated that after retrieving his firearm, he returned to find the suspect still standing inside. He said the man then rushed toward him, prompting Johnson to fire. His wife, Tanya Johnson, called 911 immediately after the shooting.

Raleigh police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Cristian Beasley. Officers found him at the scene with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to face charges. No items were reported stolen, though damage to the Johnsons’ home was extensive, including a destroyed front door frame.

Neighbor Franklin Brown reported similar damage to his residence, noting that a bathroom sink had been ripped from the wall. Multiple residents in the area stated that their homes were targeted in what appeared to be a spree of violent break-ins that night.

At this time, Raleigh police say no charges are pending against Johnson, citing the homeowner’s actions as self-defense.

This incident underscores the importance of being prepared to respond quickly and decisively during a home invasion. In such high-stress moments, knowing how to access and use your firearm can be the difference between life and death. Being ready to protect yourself and your loved ones when seconds count is critical.
