The state of California has reported its first cases of human bird flu. Health officials in the state have confirmed the first documented cases of bird flu in humans at Central Valley farms where infected dairy cows were detected.

These cases of bird flu are linked to dairy farms. Thirty-seven workers and one child are affected, all showing mild symptoms. CBS 8 reported that a March 13th investigation posted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website notified the California Department of Food and Agriculture that most of these cases involved dairy farm workers exposed to infected cows.

In addition to the farm-related cases, one confirmed case was identified in a child under 18 with no known exposure to infected animals. This child had mild respiratory symptoms. The child’s household members tested negative for HPAI A(H5N1), although they had symptoms consistent with other viral infections.

No hospitalizations or deaths have occurred in any of the cases and all patients have recovered.

In addition to the farm-related cases, one confirmed case was identified in a child under 18 with no known exposure to infected animals. This child had mild respiratory symptoms. The child’s household members tested negative for HPAI A(H5N1), although they had symptoms consistent with other viral infections.

The CDC maintains that it still has no evidence of human-to-human transmission.

Public health officials have been monitoring over 5,000 workers at affected farms and targeted surveillance has identified these cases, while the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and local health departments have provided guidance on isolation and offered antiviral medication to patients and their household members.

Bird flu is still being promoted with fear-mongering. But why is it so slow? It doesn’t seem enough to panic the masses just yet. What are your thoughts? Why is this one being handled differently than the COVID-19 scamdemic? Let us know in the comments!
