SMYRNA, GA — What began yesterday as a rumor has now been confirmed: GLOCK is preparing to roll out its new “V Series” pistols, marking a significant shift in the company’s commercial handgun offerings. The Austrian firearm manufacturer has issued a statement clarifying the move, following a wave of online speculation that all GLOCK models except the 43, 43X, and 48 would be discontinued by the end of November 2025.

After the rumors began circulating, I reached out directly to my contact at GLOCK to get clarification. I can now confirm that the GLOCK V Series is real — and it’s coming. GLOCK provided me with official confirmation along with the model lineup, which you can see in the image below. While the initial information was prematurely shared by a retailer not affiliated with GLOCK, the core of the rumor holds true: a new lineup is on the way, and select models will be phased out to make room for this updated series.

The V Series: What We Know So Far

The V Series is set to include updated versions of some of GLOCK’s most popular models, such as the G17 V, G19 V, G19X V, G26 V, and G45 V. Several of these pistols will also feature MOS (Modular Optic System) variants, including the G20 V MOS and G21 V MOS. The full list provided by GLOCK includes both commercial and distributor-exclusive models. Each V Series pistol will be marked with a “V” on both the slide and frame.

Despite the changes, GLOCK emphasizes that the external design, look, and performance will remain consistent with what users already know and trust. No pricing changes have been announced.

Timing and Motivation

The initial rumor caused widespread confusion in the gun community due to its bold claims and lack of attribution. It stated that all current GLOCKs, except the slimline 43-series models, would be discontinued as of November 30. At the time, the company had not issued any public statements, leading many to wonder whether this was a radical generational overhaul or a compliance-driven response to growing regulatory concerns — particularly around illegal “GLOCK switches,” which convert semi-automatic handguns to full-auto fire.

While GLOCK has not directly tied the V Series to the switch issue, the timing has led many to speculate that these changes are partially aimed at making their pistols more resistant to unlawful modifications. With increasing scrutiny from federal and state regulators, along with multiple ongoing lawsuits related to conversion devices, it’s possible that GLOCK is proactively updating internal components to address concerns around tampering or unauthorized modifications.

Adding to the intrigue is the series name itself. The “V” designation also doubles as the Roman numeral for five. With GLOCK currently in its fifth generation of pistols, many in the community wondered whether this was simply a rebranding of Gen 5 models or the beginning of a true Gen 6 — just under a different name. GLOCK has not confirmed whether this series represents a new generation or is intended to coexist alongside Gen 5 pistols.

What This Means for GLOCK Owners

For current GLOCK owners, this announcement raises several important considerations. First, those interested in the V Series may want to monitor inventory carefully. The models are expected to begin appearing on shelves — and available for media loan — in December 2025. Whether existing Gen 5 models will continue in parallel or be phased out entirely remains unclear.

Second, there may be implications for aftermarket parts and compatibility. While GLOCK says the V Series will retain the same external design and performance, any internal updates to address switch conversions or other mechanical changes could affect parts interchangeability.

Lastly, the inclusion of both MOS and non-MOS versions at launch is worth watching. Initial rumors suggested the V Series would be launched without MOS options, but GLOCK’s updated information confirms that some models will include MOS configurations, which are popular among concealed carriers and competitive shooters who rely on optics.

Final Thoughts

While the rollout of the GLOCK V Series may have begun with confusion, the direction is now clear: GLOCK is moving forward with a new lineup that appears to balance familiarity with updated internal engineering. Whether driven by innovation, compliance, or a mix of both, the V Series marks one of the most significant product transitions for the company in recent memory.

For gun owners, this is a good reminder that even established platforms like GLOCK are not immune to change. As the political and legal landscape continues to evolve, so too will the firearms designed for the civilian market. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the V Series as models begin to ship later this year — and we’re looking forward to testing them firsthand.
