Super short column this morning, as I have been hip-deep in (stuff) around here. Doctor appointment for usual blood draws – I may live a while longer, lol. Comments on safety of Zetia are welcome in Comments….
Job Cuts
Markets had a good day Wednesday, but we are becoming concerned (with DeepSeek and all the foam in A.I. space) that most of what is being passed off as “economic growth” is really just asset repricing due to systemic inflation.
In other words, Gold is up to the $2,900 levels, Silver is knocking on $33, and even BTC was back to the underside of $100,000 today.
With all this noise in the system, we are looking to fundamentals like the Job picture – federal numbers tomorrow – and we’ll see how things roll from there.
For now, we have Job Cuts:
“U.S.-based employers announced 49,795 cuts in January, up 28% from the 38,792 announced one month prior. It is down 40% from the 82,307 cuts announced in January 2024, according to a report released Thursday from global outplacement and business and executive coaching firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.
This is the lowest January job cut total since 2022, when 19,064 cuts were recorded for the month. That month was the lowest total Challenger ever recorded for January.
To this, we can also take a look at the weekly Unemployment filings from Labor…
And then see how they were impacting the various states:
Mid-morning there’s a Treasury buyback announcement and the Fed balance sheet after the close today. Federal job numbers tomorrow will likely fall in line with JOLTS, ADP, Challenger, and whoever else wanders by…
Impeachment 2.0 – The (bad) Sequel
Well, well, lookie here! A bad rerun – like we don’t get enough of these already, huh?
Texas Democrat plans push to impeach Donald Trump for ‘dastardly deeds’ involving Gaza and since hating Trump is the goal here, Bitter Dems move to impeach Trump AGAIN as they erupt into furious shouting match over Elon Musk subpoena.
Of course,. the real reason is the blowing up of the USAID scam to pour US tax dollars into lefty agenda works (in your name) worldwide, which honestly, we ain’t too keen on.
But it’s going around – like that persistent cough, cold, and dry cough this winter: There’s an impeachment move against Duterte in the Philippines and one against the outgoing president of Romania, so a certain sense of “contagion” to all this.
What the Impeachocrats and Lawfarers seem to have missed (should they inspect Reality) is that while the Saudis are saying “no peace deals with Israel without a Palestinian State” they (the Saudis) won’t let Palestinian refugees in. A kind of “not in our house” position.
On the other hand Israel’s Netanyahu touts Trump’s plan to take over Gaza as ‘remarkable’ idea. And as always, the Developer-in-Chief is working a deal which lefty’s can seem to comprehend and they run as a pack of lemmings to misunderstand, misconstrue, and impeach on, at the drop of a hat. Clearly, it is a tough job to talk to smart and not-so-smart at the same time. Donald Trump claims no US troops will be needed for his plan to turn Gaza Strip into a Riviera…
Trump is, however, a lot more clear on the Panama Canal: US government vessels to sail free through Panama Canal: State Dept. And we would offer the (unsolicited) view that Panamanian leadership visit the Urban Dictionary and study what FAFO means.
Mixing Linux and Politics
One of the most popular Linux distro’s out there is Ubuntu. But looks to us like that “word mark” may have just brick-walled on us: ‘Ubuntu promotes collective problem-solving:’ Lamola responds to US snub of G20 summit in SA.
So this isn’t about a Linux baby Beowolf cluster; no sir, it’s about giving the takeover of property legal cover to seize lands and homes and such. The Trump administration is pissed about it, for obvious reasons: U.S. skipping G20 talks due to South Africa’s ‘anti-American’ agenda: Rubio. Yep, South Africa didn’t get the memo on climate scamming (directed at the US only) or DEI (again, aimed at the US only, not applying to like, oh, Muslims in China…) are not acceptable.
Which it’s a battle over “double-standards” on the one hand, we’re sure glad that our local Linux machines are on Mint. Brand transmogrification is a bear until the coffee kicks in. We’d like to see the real Ubuntu go after S.A. on trade-dress grounds…
Meanwhile with the USAID teat turned off, Schadenfreude at Its Finest: Climate Grifters Cry Over Trump’s Grant Freeze – Watts Up With That? Next stop on the evidence trail (from Musk to Pam Bondi) will be? The secrecy of the USAID grant database is by design. Look up the addresses of entities receiving millions of dollars on Google maps and you’ll find shacks or empty land. It’s pure money laundering. And by people in office who should be jailed.
In the meantime, Bondi’s predictably headed for a lefty riot because AG Pam Bondi Demands Epstein Client List Be Released—Time to Expose the Evil! (Video) Which will feature which party by some solid majority, do you think?
But the traitors within just can’t get it: NEW: Democrats Launch Last-Ditch Effort To Stop Kash Patel’s Confirmation. Yeah – can’t have an honest FBI or no USAID and Lolita Express lists, can we?
Ascent of Musk
Also, here in the resurgent world of Trump Hate, we notice the MSM laying it on with GOP support for Musk influence with Trump falls dramatically: Poll.
Near as I can figure (we’re still waiting for 2024 election cycle data), it appears to use that the polling outfit the Economist used for this story (YouGov) has – according to data here – been much more generous in political contributions to the democrats. So we don’t put excessive trust in these numbers. But we’ll gladly reconsider when the 2024 contributions are all tabbed in. We think any of the Nation’s polling firms with employees actively giving money to candidates and causes should be disqualified from being cited by/in/or hired by media. But that’s just “too many years” watching bias media talking on my part, I reckon.
Still, Musk Hate will be the left’s New Trump Hate because Federal Government Funneled Millions in Tax Dollars to Leftist ‘News’ Outlets Politico & NY Times. Need more? BREAKING: Michael Shellenberger tells Jesse Watters that USAID and the CIA are linked to Donald Trump’s impeachment. Duh.
The White House calls bullshit: Media is corrupt and she just says it. Love this gal. Trump was wise to pick her.
Wholly Scrollers II
Maybe not life-altering, but worth some pondering:
From Chicken Little to Chicken Lots: The uncertainty of science: Scientists now say eating eggs reduces your chances of a heart attack.
Anyone else get paydays? Peachy Keenan on X: “Over $4 billion to Haiti but Haiti only got 2% of it. The rest went to firms in DC and “other” https://t.co/5CzzZT0i2H” / X
Did Chelsea Clinton get a payday via USAID? on X: “Chelsea Clinton casually taking home $84 million https://t.co/4E0xQhmUlT” / X
Pro-abortion hysteria will likely become less shrill: USAID Spent $607 Million Promoting Abortion Worldwide, Thankfully Trump is Defunding It.
Two and 1/2 Aircraft Accidents now: DC, Pennsylvania med-jet and now ‘Pretty big jolt:’ 2 planes collide at Sea-Tac Airport.
And we’re back in “locker Stocker” mode around here when beef comes up on sale in local food dispensaries: US Cattle Herd Continues To Drop: ‘New Record Low’.
At the Ranch: AI on Dieting
Our Peoplenomics report next week will be a lot of fun. I tool the anti-aging diet outlined in my latest book (on Amazon) and had it AI optimized.
All I can say (for now) is that my odds of living to 108, or so, are a lot higher now… but more on the subscriber side next week.
