LAS VEGAS, NV — A road rage incident took a violent turn Monday morning when a man followed a woman home after a traffic dispute, only to be shot by her armed boyfriend outside her residence.

The incident unfolded around 9 a.m. on October 6 in the northwest Las Vegas Valley, near Tee Pee Lane and Grand Teton Drive. According to 8 News Now, the woman involved told investigators she had “mistakenly cut off” another driver, later identified as 28-year-old Noah Gonzalez. An argument reportedly followed, during which Gonzalez trailed her for over a mile back to her home.

Sensing potential danger, the woman contacted her boyfriend, Javon Smith, before arriving. Upon reaching her residence, police say Gonzalez displayed a firearm and threatened to kill her. In response, Smith emerged from the home and opened fire, striking Gonzalez multiple times.

Responding officers located Gonzalez inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. He survived the shooting and now faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Notably, police confirmed Gonzalez was not the shooter but had brandished a gun during the encounter.

Smith initially fled the scene but later returned and was detained by authorities on an unrelated 2020 warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. As of Tuesday, he had not been charged in connection with Monday’s shooting. Smith reportedly told officers he feared for both his and his girlfriend’s lives when he fired on Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was later released on a cash bond and is expected to appear in court in November. Details regarding the bond amount were not disclosed in court records.

This case is another reminder of how quickly road rage incidents can escalate into serious confrontations. The woman’s decision to call her boyfriend when she sensed trouble shows the importance of taking threats seriously.
